What's great

We’ve packed this itinerary with adventure activities that everyone can get stuck into for a family-bonding experience, as well as plenty of downtime to hang out by the pool or wander at leisure

You’ll have lots of educational opportunities to learn about Khmer culture and interact with local people

As well as the classic sights, you'll experience the amazing diversity Cambodia has to offer, from rice paddies to rainforests to beaches

Things to consider

We’ve eschewed domestic flights which does mean some long car journeys, but this way you’ll see more of the gorgeous Cambodian countryside

Adventure activities are suitable for children aged eight and above. If your family is younger, we’ll adapt the itinerary to suit

You’ll find basic facilities and no air-conditioning at the Banteay Chhmar homestay, but you’ll get to eat dinner with the locals and experience life in a rural Cambodian village

The experience

All of our itineraries are completely tailormade, so what’s outlined below is just an example of the kind of trip we can put together. Let us know what you’re looking for in a Cambodia vacation and we’ll design a route to suit your family.

Day 1-4

Siem Reap

Welcome to Siem Reap, gateway to the magnificent temples of Angkor. Channel your inner Lara Croft at Ta Prohm, the vine-covered Tomb Raider temple. Meanwhile, Angkor Wat looks like something out of The Jungle Book – it's not hard to imagine King Louis swinging from the rafters. We’ll also keep the kids entertained with a scavenger hunt through the ruins of Angkor Thom. Beyond the temples, Siem Reap is a great hub for hands-on activities including pottery making and rice farming. You’ll also get to zipline over the jungle canopy in a high-octane adventure, take an early evening street food tour and visit the circus where acrobats tell moving stories of Cambodian life and society.

Day 5

Banteay Chhmar

Now it’s time to leave the tourist trail and immerse yourselves in the rhythm of rural Cambodia. Tonight, you’ll be staying in a traditional homestay in the small village of Banteay Chhmar. Facilities are basic and there’s no air-conditioning, but it’s only one night and a very authentic experience. The villagers will be your hosts and they’ll take you on a tractor tour of the surrounding settlements, rice paddies and reservoirs. As night falls, you’ll all sit down together for a torch-lit barbecue. Before you leave, take a peek at Banteay Chhmar temple. It’s one of our favorites in Cambodia, its crumbling ruins being slowly reclaimed by nature.
