The experience
The ultimate luxury? Choice. Everything in this itinerary can be tweaked and adjusted to suit you — you only need to say the word.
Day 1-2
Bangkok
As one of the most visited cities in the world, nowhere does hospitality like Bangkok. With one of its finest hotels as your base, you’ll dove deep into the royal and religious heritage of the city — touring the resplendent Grand Palace, making a day trip to historic Ayutthaya, and witnessing afternoon prayers at one of the capital’s most important temples. While most visitors will visit these local icons, you’ll do it in style: touring the palace museum with a curator; contrasting UNESCO ruins with cutting edge architecture at a trendy wine bar on the Chao Phraya River, and following it all up with dinner reservations at one of the top 50 restaurants in the world.
Highlights
See the beautiful textiles as you tour the Queen Sirikit Museum with a curator
Experience the otherworldly atmosphere of prayers at Wat Pho
Eat at one of the world’s best restaurants: nahm
Take a day trip to Ayutthaya and visit eccentric Bang Pa-In Summer Palace
Day 3-4
Golden Triangle
At the Golden Triangle, where Thailand meets Laos and Myanmar, different cultures bleed across borders to create a rich cultural flavor quite different from that of the capital. Here, with the stunning Anantara resort as your base, you’ll explore the region’s rich (and often troubled) history with a visit to the Hall of Opium, then lose yourself in its stunning jungle scenery at the resort’s elephant sanctuary. When you’re not exploring, admire the incredible three-country views from your suite, or relax in a milk bath at the world-class spa. Northern Thailand has some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world, and there’s nowhere better to soak it up than the Anantara.
Highlights
Learn about the 19th century opium trade at the fascinating Hall of Opium
Look out over Myanmar, Laos and Thailand from your ridgetop suite at the Anantara
Spend a morning with the elephants at the Anantara’s onsite sanctuary
