Accommodation choices were great and ideally located for easy walking to explore local attractions or restaurants. All hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and food choices for breakfast were plentiful. 2 of our party had birthdays whilst we were away (in 2 different hotels) and they both received cake, flowers and balloons!

Beau Rivage in Vientiane very well located with very nice staff with even pop-up restaurants along the river just in front of the hotel. Perfect when you don't want to walk far for dinner.The Sanctuary was also really pretty, very well located and nice staff. But our room was really humid and kept that humidity smell all the time. The cleaners didn't say Hi or replied to us but the staff in general was really kind.The River resort in Champasak was beautiful but we felt stuck especially for eating. Breakfast was really good over there but the dinner was not that great without being bad and we didn't want to go back there as it is actually pricey for Laos. Also being quite tired we did not want to get out of the bungalow to go up to the restaurant especially by fear of mosquitoes.

Our accommodations hit the sweet spot. They were in a good location, luxurious enough to feel pampered, but not over the top pretentious or stuffy.

The Naman Retreat in Hoi An and the Shinta Mani Angkor did exceed expectations but the other two hotels were not as good.

Again: the last hotel wasn't definitely at the same level of the previous five

Just wonderful.

Silverland Yen very friendly and helpful staff and amazing value - great food, complimentary afternoon tea, lovely rooftop bar and pool. Very comfortable rooms and brilliantly located for lots of HCMC's sights and hotspots. The Boutique Resort in Hoi An was small enough to be charming rather than a luxurious holiday 'factory' (we saw some absolutely vast resorts being built on our way from Da Nang). Very pretty cream and red tiles buildings in beautifully landscaped gardens with gorgeous swimming pool and lovely beach cafe and pool bars. Great stretch of private beach - very clean, plenty of comfortable loungers under coconut palm umbrellas. My husband and son enjoyed the gym and I had a great massage in the spa. We spent an extra £200 between the three of us over 5 days, which included drinks, food (lunches, snacks, dinner one night when we were too lazy to go into Hoi An) massage, so good value.
